To store: The leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Let stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
To reheat: Alternatively, you can reheat the cranberry sauce in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat, often whisking, until warm; whisk in additional orange juice, water, or a combination of both until the cranberry apple sauce reaches the desired consistency.
    Make-Ahead
To make Cranberry Apple Sauce, simmer orange juice, zest, sugar, and water in a saucepan. Add cranberries, apples, nutmeg, salt, and a cinnamon stick. Cook until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens (10-15 minutes). Adjust sugar to taste. Remove from heat, let it cool, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
