Camila's Tips

  • In this recipe, we don't strain the fresh pineapple juice. But if you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer after blending the pineapple.
  • For a more refreshing pineapple juice, blend in some fresh mint leaves.

    Equipment

    • Chef's knife
    • Blender
    • sifter
    • Measuring cups

    Ingredients

    • 1 whole ripe pineapple , peeled, cored, and cut into medium-sized chunks
    • 6 cups filtered water
    • ½ cup sugar , adjust to taste
    • Juice from 1 lemon or lime , optional

    Instructions

    • Rinse the pineapple under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris from the skin.
    • Using a sharp chef's knife, cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple to create a flat base for stability. Stand the pineapple upright on the flat base and slice down the sides, removing the tough outer skin and the "eyes" (small brown spots).
    • Continue rotating the pineapple and cutting until all the skin and eyes are removed. Cut the pineapple lengthwise into quarters. Then, cut out the tough core from each quarter.
    • Dice the pineapple quarters into smaller chunks to fit into your blender easily. Place the pineapple chunks in a blender. Add water, sugar, and lemon juice to the blender. Start blending the pineapple on low speed and gradually increase the speed until the juice is smooth and no large chunks remain.
    • Pour the pineapple juice into a large pitcher. Taste the juice and adjust the sweetness with more sugar if you'd like it sweeter. Serve the fresh pineapple juice in glasses filled with ice.

    Notes

    How to Store
Pour the Pineapple Juice into a clean, airtight container, such as a pitcher or glass bottle with a lid. Seal the container tightly and place it in the refrigerator. Pineapple Limeade can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days. Before serving, stir the Pineapple juice well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
    Make-Ahead
To make pineapple juice ahead of time, follow the recipe as stated. After preparing the juice, transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. However, pineapple juice is best served immediately to enjoy its vibrant flavors and freshness. If you decide to make it ahead, give the container a good shake before serving to ensure the juice is well-mixed.
