What is Cafe Cremoso?
Café Cremoso is a sweet and velvety coffee drink similar to a latte or cappuccino. It is made by whipping together instant coffee, sugar, and hot water until it becomes thick and fluffy and then adding a dollop of the mixture to a glass of hot or cold milk. The result is a creamy and indulgent coffee drink that can be customized with different spices or flavorings to suit individual preferences.
Ingredients
Note: The full ingredients list is provided in the recipe card below.
- Instant coffee: This is a type of coffee that has been dried and granulated, making it quick and easy to dissolve in hot water. Instant coffee is a common ingredient in many coffee-based drinks and recipes.
- Granulated sugar: This is a sugar commonly used in baking and cooking. It dissolves easily and adds sweetness to the Café Cremoso mixture.
- Hot water: This is used to dissolve the instant coffee and sugar in the mixture.
- Milk: This is the base of the Café Cremoso drink and can be hot or cold, depending on preference. You can use regular dairy milk or a non-dairy alternative such as almond, soy, or oat milk.

How to Make Café Cremoso
Note: The full instructions are provided in the recipe card below.
Combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a large mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer set to a low setting to whip the mixture continuously for about 10 minutes *(If you don’t have a hand mixer, it can be whipped by hand; know the process takes a little longer, about 20 to 25 minutes. Good luck!) The mixture will begin to turn a lighter color and thicken as you keep whipping it.
Once the mixture has reached a thick (I mean so thick that it will not drop off the spoon if turned over), light and fluffy consistency, and is a golden brown color, it’s ready. Store it in an air-tight container in the freezer for up to three months. Don't worry; it won't harden; there is no need to defrost to use it!😉
How to Make Coffee
Fill up a glass with your choice of milk *(hot or cold, with or without ice), add a generous dollop of the Café Cremoso, and adjust to your liking. Mix well before drinking. Enjoy!
Substitutions
- Instant coffee: If you don't have instant coffee, you can use instant espresso or regular coffee brewed and chilled.
- Granulated sugar: You can substitute with any sweetener, such as honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar. Just keep in mind that the sweetness level may differ.
- Milk: You can use any milk or milk alternative, such as almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, or coconut milk.
- Cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract: are all optional flavorings that can be added to the mixture. You can experiment with spices or flavorings like cardamom, ginger, or caramel syrup.
Variations
- Spiced Café Cremoso: Add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the mixture before whipping it to add a warm and spicy flavor.
- Mocha Café Cremoso: Add 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder before whipping to create a chocolatey mocha flavor.
- Vanilla Café Cremoso: Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract before whipping to create a sweet and floral vanilla flavor.
- Salted Caramel Café Cremoso: Add 1 tablespoon of caramel syrup and a pinch of salt before whipping to create a sweet and salty caramel flavor.
- Pumpkin Spice Café Cremoso: Add a pinch of pumpkin pie spice to the mixture before whipping to create a warm and cozy fall flavor.
- Peppermint Mocha Café Cremoso: Add 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract and 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder to the Café Cremoso mixture before whipping to create a refreshing and chocolatey peppermint flavor.

How to Store & Re-Heat
To store: Transfer the whipped mixture to an airtight container. Place the container in the freezer for up to three months. When ready to use the mixture, remove it from the freezer and use it directly from the frozen state. There's no need to defrost it!
To reheat: If you're using cold milk, heat it in a microwave or stove until it reaches your desired temperature.
