In this recipe, we'll cover everything you need to know about making, storing, and using honey butter so you can enjoy its buttery goodness whenever want.

How to Make Honey Butter

Note: The full instructions are provided in the recipe card below.

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened butter and honey. Using a hand or stand mixer, beat the butter and honey until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Continue beating the mixture for 2-3 minutes to ensure that the butter and honey are fully incorporated and smooth and creamy. Taste the honey butter and add more honey if you want it sweeter.

Once the honey butter is ready, transfer it to a container with a lid and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes:

  • Cover leftovers tightly and store them in the refrigerator for up to a week; soften before use.
  • To Freeze: Chill it in the fridge before spooning it onto plastic wrap. Next, secure it in a couple of layers of plastic wrap. Freeze for up to two months in advance. Refrigerate overnight to thaw.
  • You can use salted butter- omit the kosher salt.
  • You can also slice it into individual pieces after rolling it into a log and chilling it. Here's how to do it: Shape the blended butter into a rectangle on a piece of plastic wrap. Next, wrap the butter tightly in plastic wrap, folding the sides in, then the top and bottom. Refrigerate until firm, then roll into a log. Cut ¼- to ½-inch slices and arrange in a butter dish to serve.

    Equipment

    • small bowl
    • Spatula
    • Measuring cups

    Ingredients

    • 113 g (1) stick unsalted butter , room temperature
    • 3 tablespoons honey , adjust to taste
    • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt

    Instructions

    • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Then, using a hand blender, beat it at high speed until light and fluffy. Cover leftover tightly and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week; soften before use. Enjoy!

    Notes

    How to Store & Re-Heat
    • To store: Tightly cover it in an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to a week. When ready to use, allow the butter to soften at room temperature for a few minutes.
    • To reheat: If you need to reheat a larger amount, gently melt the desired portion in a microwave-safe bowl at short intervals, stirring in between, until it reaches the desired consistency.
Avoid overheating to prevent separation. Enjoy the creamy goodness of this recipe whenever you desire by following these simple storage and reheating instructions.
    Make-Ahead
Prepare this recipe in advance by following it and beating it until fluffy. Store it tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to a week. When needed, let it soften at room temperature before enjoying it.
    How to Freeze
To freeze honey butter, transfer it to a freezer-safe container or plastic freezer bag, and remove any excess air. The butter will expand slightly as it freezes, so leave some headspace in the container to prevent it from bursting. It can be frozen for up to 6 months. When you're ready to use the frozen honey butter, transfer it to the refrigerator to thaw overnight. Once thawed, stir it well to ensure that the butter and honey are fully incorporated before using. It's not recommended to freeze honey butter previously frozen and thawed, as the texture and quality may be affected.
