EASY BRAZILIAN CAIPIRINHA RECIPE

Easy Caipirinha

Camila Benitez
Caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail, is a wonderfully refreshing drink perfect for hot summer days. Despite its simplicity, it packs a punch of flavor, seamlessly blending sweet, sour, and strong elements.
The star ingredient, cachaça, a spirit made from sugarcane, adds a unique twist compared to more common spirits like vodka or rum.

Ingredients

  • 1- ½ oz (50 ml) of Cachaça, such as Cachaça 51
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons demerara sugar or granulated sugar , adjust to taste
  • 3 limes (cut into 8 wedges)
  • ice , to taste

Instructions

  • Wash the limes thoroughly under running water. Cut and discard the ends of the lime. Cut the lime in half lengthwise, and each half into 4 wedges. Remove the white pith in the middle.
  • Transfer the wedges to a low glass, add the sugar, and lightly muddle with a muddler to release the lime juice. Fill the glass with ice cubes, add the cachaça, and stir with a spoon. Serve immediately.

Notes

How to Store
Caipirinha is best consumed immediately after being prepared, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, lime juice may lose some freshness and flavor over time, so it's best to consume the leftover drink as soon as possible.
