It combines sweet canned peaches with crema de leche (also known as media crema or table cream).

This Durazno con crema recipe is a simple yet very special one. It was one of the first desserts I made for my husband, and he still loves it to this day.

It has become a family favorite. This simple, light, no-bake treat is refreshing and incredibly easy to prepare, making it the perfect dessert for any occasion. Give it a try-I'm sure you'll love it just as much as we do!

Ingredients You'll Need

  • Peaches in syrup: The main ingredient. I prefer peaches that come in a glass jar because I think they taste better, but any peaches in syrup-whether canned or in a glass jar-will work. I like using Wegmans Old Fashioned Peach Slices.
  • Table cream (crema de leche/media crema): Nestlé brand recommended, but heavy cream can be used as a substitute; however, it won't have the same taste.
  • Sugar: Adds sweetness.

See the recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Durazno con crema

Note: Full instructions are provided in the recipe card below.

1. Drain the peaches, saving the syrup if needed. Cut into cubes or slices.

4. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for a creamier, refreshing taste (optional). Serve.

Hint: Try adding a bit of the syrup and sweetening with sweetened condensed milk instead of sugar for extra flavor.

Storage, Make Ahead, & Freezing

  • Storage: Keep the peach with cream mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare it 1 day in advance and refrigerate to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Freezing: I don't recommend freezing.

Camila's Tips & Variations

  • Sweetness Adjustment: Adjust the sugar to taste depending on the sweetness of your peaches. If using fresh peaches, you may need a little more sugar.
  • Flavor Boost: Add a splash of vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon to elevate the flavor.
  • Chill Longer: If you prefer an even creamier taste, refrigerate for a few hours or overnight to allow the flavors to fully meld.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh peaches instead of canned?

Yes, you can use fresh peaches. Just peel, pit, and cut them into small cubes or slices. You may need to add a little extra sugar, as fresh peaches are usually less sweet than canned.

Can I make a larger batch?

Absolutely! You can easily double or triple the ingredients to make a larger batch.

Can I add alcohol for an adult version?

Yes! You can add a splash of rum, brandy, or amaretto to the cream mixture for a delicious adult twist. Just a small amount will add extra depth to the flavor.

    Equipment

    • Large Bowl

    Ingredients

    • 1 (32 oz / 2 lb / 907g) peach halves or slices in heavy syrup
    • 2 7.6 oz / 225g) cans Nestlé brand Table cream (crema de leche/media crema) , but heavy cream can be used as a substitute (though it won't have the same taste).
    • 3 tablespoons sugar , adjust to taste.

    Instructions

    • Drain the peaches, but save the syrup in case you want to adjust the consistency later. Cut the peaches into small cubes or slices.
    • In a large bowl, add the chopped peaches, table cream, and sugar. Stir everything together until the mixture is well combined and evenly coated.
    • If you prefer a more liquid texture, gradually add some of the reserved syrup, adjusting the amount to your preference. You can also skip this step if you prefer a thicker consistency.
    • For a creamier and more refreshing taste, refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes before serving (optional). Serve as is.
