In a blender or food processor, add the cherry and ½ cup of water; blend or purée until completely smooth, then transfer the mixture into a pitcher. (For pulp-free: pass the mixture through a fine sieve, if desired.)
Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice, remaining water, and sugar to the pitcher and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Taste and add more sugar if necessary. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving, or serve immediately over ice.
Storage: Store leftover cherry lemonade in a covered pitcher or an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving, as natural separation may occur.
Make Ahead: While cherry lemonade is best enjoyed fresh, you can make it up to 1 day in advance and keep it refrigerated. For the best flavor, stir again just before serving and add ice at the last minute.
