Agua de Jamaica

Agua de Jamaica, known as Hibiscus Tea, is a refreshing and delicious beverage in many Latin American countries. This beverage is made by steeping dried hibiscus flowers in water and then sweetening the resulting tea to taste. Agua de Jamaica is naturally caffeine-free and is rich in antioxidants, making it a healthy and hydrating alternative to other sugary drinks.

In a pot add 4 cups of water and the flower of Jamaica and bring it to a boil for about 5 minutes over medium-low heat.
Remove from heat and let it cool at room temperature. Strain the water through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher and reserve the flowers.
Add the remaining water and sugar, and mix well. Refrigerate until cold.
Serve cold with ice and garnish with lime, if desired. Enjoy!
How to Store: To store Agua de Jamaica, let it cool to room temperature and transfer it to an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be stored for 3-4 days. Serve chilled over ice with lime slices, if desired.

- Too strong? Just add more water until it reaches the flavor that you like.
