It made layers of sweet fresh mixed berries, cream cheese, and savoiardi (also known as ladyfingers), topped with whipped cream and more mixed berries. The best part of this dessert, besides being stunning, is that it's simple to make and can easily feed a crowd. In addition, you can make this dessert in a trifle dish or individual glasses, whichever you find more convenient.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ pounds fresh strawberries , hulled and cut into ¼-inch slices
  • 12 oz fresh raspberries
  • 12 oz fresh blueberries
  • ¾ cup Four Fruits Preserves such as Bonne Maman Brand
  • 1-½ cups heavy whipping cream , cold
  • 16 ounces Full Fat cream cheese (preferably Philadelphia brand) at room temperature
  • 1-¾ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract or clear vanilla , divided
  • 1 (7.0 oz or 7.05 oz) savoiardi biscuits such as Vicenzovo
  • Fresh mint spring , for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • For the Marinated Berry: Heat four fruit preserves in the microwave for about 25 seconds to loosen or on the stovetop. Place the berries into a large bowl with the heated four fruit preserves and let stand at room temperature while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
  • For the Whipped Cream: In a second large bowl, beat the heavy cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • For the trifle: Place the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and remaining 2 teaspoons vanilla extract in a large bowl and beat on medium speed until smooth and fluffy. Next, add a third of the whipped cream and beat until lightened. Then, fold in the remaining whipped cream.
  • To Assemble the Berry Trifle: Set aside a few berries for topping the trifle and set aside. Cover the bottom of a 14-cup trifle dish, large bowl, or individual glasses with a layer of lady's fingers ( breaking into pieces as necessary). Follow with the berry sauce ( including the juices) and cream cheese mixture, alternating between berry sauce and cream cheese mixture, and finishing with the cream cheese mixture on top for the final layer, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge. Garnish with the reserved berry and a fresh mint spring. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 8 hours or overnight.

Notes

How to Store
Cover the trifle bowl with a layer of plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; the ladyfingers will be mushy as they will soak up all the liquids as they sit in the fridge, but it will still be very delicious.
Make Ahead
Prepare the berry trifle a day ahead, cover it, and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Remove from fridge 1 hour before serving.
How to Freeze:
It is not advisable to freeze.
